F.A.S.T. - Faith in Action to Serve & Transform

Leader: Mrs. Paula Wills

Faith in Action to Serve and Transform is a ministry started by and continues to be supported by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ who operated St. Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis for over a hundred years.  "F.A.S.T." is a ministry that pairs a care giver with an elderly or handicapped person in the community.  The extent of the involvement is determined by the care giver.  The kind of service that may be offered ranges from simply a phone call regularly to check up on the person, to personal visits, to perhaps preparing a home-cooked meal once in a while, to doing some basic house cleaning, to helping to pay bills, to running errands, etc.  The Care Giver and the Care Receiver are both interviewed and then a proper match is made based on expectations and capabilities of both.  Training is given to the Care Givers prior to their starting this ministry.  Call the Church Office for more information 274-0655.
